As an ICU RN, you will deliver complex, high-acuity bedside care to critically ill adult patients, working within a multidisciplinary team that includes physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other nursing professionals.
In this role, you will perform comprehensive assessments, closely monitor vital signs and hemodynamic status, manage ventilators and advanced life-support equipment, and administer and titrate IV medications, including vasoactive drips, sedation, and pain control therapies according to physician orders and evidence-based protocols.
You will be responsible for interpreting EKGs and telemetry, responding rapidly to changes in patient condition, and actively participating in rapid responses and code situations to stabilize patients and support the care team.
The ICU RN will maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record, develop and update individualized plans of care, and collaborate with providers to adjust treatments based on laboratory results, diagnostic findings, and patient response.
You will provide clear communication and education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and expectations of ICU-level care, offering emotional support during highly stressful and sensitive situations.
Daily responsibilities include implementing strict infection control practices, managing central and arterial lines, caring for surgical and medical ICU patients, administering blood products, and following hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
You will be expected to prioritize and manage multiple high-acuity patients, coordinate care transitions, and participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and best-practice compliance.
