About This Role

This per-diem position involves 12-hour shifts providing direct patient care in an addiction treatment facility. You'll support patients with daily activities and monitor their well-being while working alongside clinical and therapeutic staff. As a PRN (as-needed) role, your schedule offers flexibility—you work when called in rather than maintaining a fixed weekly schedule, making this ideal for those seeking variable hours or supplemental income. The position suits compassionate individuals who can handle the physical and emotional demands of working with people in recovery, remain calm under pressure, and communicate effectively with both patients and team members. Frequently asked questions

  • How does per diem nursing work?

Per diem nurses pick up shifts as needed without a fixed weekly schedule. You commit to a minimum number of shifts per month and choose dates that fit your availability.

  • Does per diem pay more than staff?

Yes — per diem hourly rates are typically 20–40% higher than staff rates because there are no benefits or guaranteed hours.

  • Are benefits included?

Most per diem roles do not include health benefits or PTO; the higher hourly rate is meant to offset that. Some hospitals offer limited benefits at higher commitment tiers.
