Job Description
Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) is a 650+ provider multispecialty group practice is seeking a full time Nurse Practitioner to manage orthopedic trauma patients in collaboration with the orthopedic trauma surgeon(s). The position includes direct clinical management through utilization of approved protocols and procedures as well as appropriate medical consultation. The Nurse Practitioner will work closely with the Orthopedic Trauma Medical Director and other members of the trauma service to evaluate new trauma patients in the Emergency Room, to provide direction to hospital personnel regarding patient management issues, and to manage inpatient orthopedic fracture patients. This individual will also work in the operating room and outpatient clinic settings. The schedule consists of a full-time rotation of responsibilities include clinic, operating room, inpatient rounding, and PA call coverage. PA team consists of seven (7) providers. Coverage of group call as needed, which include nights and weekend shifts. The qualified PA-C will show evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills and problem-solving abilities, and commit to a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care. Candidates must hold a valid controlled substance registration with both the Idaho Board of Pharmacy and the DEA and should have past surgical and/or critical care experience in a hospital-based setting. Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center (SARMC) is the principal provider of advanced, innovative and interdisciplinary trauma and critical care services. In addition, SARMC is an ACS verified Level II Trauma Center whose annual trauma volumes exceed1,250 with over 400 patients with an ISS>16. Trauma is predominantly blunt in nature. The trauma surgeons participate in a primary and back-up call panel arrangement.
