POSITION SUMMARY: Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect patient –centered care. Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team. Communicates, as appropriate, the patient's clinical condition, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served. Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions. Reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager. Qualifications EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing with a current licensure in the State of Connecticut. Must have certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support upon hire or receive certification within the new employee introductory orientation period and maintain clinical competency during employment with Hartford HealthCare in this role. COMPETENCIES: Must be able to effectively communicate verbally as well as in writing using the English language. Possess basic computer skills. We take great care of careers. Requirements
Active RN license required.
1–2+ years of ICU/critical care experience.
BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred.
Ability to stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and assist with patient transfers.

What ICU experience do I need?
Most ICU roles require 1–2 years of recent critical-care experience. Travel ICU contracts typically expect 2+ years. New grads can apply to ICU residency programs offered by many hospitals.
Which certifications are required?
BLS and ACLS are required. CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) is preferred and often comes with a pay differential.
What does the schedule look like?
Most ICU positions run three 12-hour shifts per week — either days (7a–7p) or nights (7p–7a) — with weekend and holiday rotations.
