This per-diem role offers a specialized path for Registered Nurses to deliver psychiatric care directly within the Ventura County community. Traveling to private residences in areas like Oxnard and Thousand Oaks, you will conduct mental status exams, manage psychiatric medications, and provide crisis intervention strategies for seniors and individuals navigating complex mental health conditions. While your clinical focus remains on behavioral health, you will also monitor physical well-being and educate families on long-term symptom management. This position is built for an RN-BC certified nurse with at least one year of psychiatric experience who thrives when working independently and prefers the autonomy of home health over a locked unit. Because this is a pay-per-visit model with rates ranging from $125 to $150 per appointment, you have total control over your schedule and earning potential. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – BEHAVIORAL HEALTH RN (HOME HEALTH)
- Perform in-home behavioral health and psychiatric nursing assessments, including mental status and safety evaluations
- Deliver skilled home health nursing interventions, including medication management and symptom monitoring
- Provide patient and caregiver education on mental health conditions, treatment adherence, and coping strategies
- Develop and implement individualized behavioral health care plans in a home and community care setting Coordinate care with physicians, therapists, and interdisciplinary teams Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with home health standards
QUALIFICATIONS – BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NURSE (RN) Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing RN-BC certification is required Minimum 1 year of behavioral health or psychiatric nursing experience (home health or community care preferred) Graduate of an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred) Strong skills in clinical assessment, crisis intervention, and therapeutic communication Public Health Nurse (PHN) certification (preferred) Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout Ventura County
