About This Role
This local tenens position in Los Angeles places an experienced Neonatologist at the center of a Level II NICU, managing a low-volume census while remaining on call for high-risk deliveries. The schedule follows a seven-day rotation beginning Monday mornings, utilizing a 24-hour out-of-house call model that offers flexibility between clinical demands. This role is ideal for a board-certified specialist or a seasoned neonatal practitioner comfortable acting as the primary attending during critical births. You will provide essential coverage for several weeks, ensuring specialized care continuity in a high-acuity environment. Compensation reflects the urgency and expertise required, with pay reaching up to $250 per hour depending on experience and immediate facility needs. To streamline your transition, the assignment includes fully coordinated travel arrangements, private housing, and comprehensive malpractice protection. Because the administrative burden of credentialing and licensing is handled on your behalf, you can remain entirely focused on patient outcomes and stabilizing newborns within this Southern California facility.

Frequently asked questions
How long is a typical travel nurse contract?
Most travel nurse contracts run 8–13 weeks, with the option to extend or take a new assignment after each contract. Some crisis or rapid-response contracts are as short as 4 weeks.
Is housing provided or is there a stipend?
Most travel agencies offer a tax-free housing stipend rather than agency-arranged housing. Stipends vary by city and assignment, typically $1,000–$2,500 per month on top of weekly taxable pay.
Do I need a compact nursing license?
A multistate (compact) license lets you work in any NLC member state without applying for a separate license. For non-compact states (e.g., California, New York) you'll need a state-specific RN license before starting.
