Job Description
The Cardiothoracic Surgery Service Line at Northwell Health is seeking a full-time Nocturnist to join our team in the Cardiothoracic Surgery ICU at Lenox Hill Hospital . Candidates must be fellowship trained, and Board Certified in Critical Care. Primary board certifications can include Internal Medicine, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, or General Surgery. Candidates graduating from their sub-specialty training will also be considered depending upon experience during fellowship training. The ideal candidate should also carry exceptional inter-personal skills with a goal of sharing a vision of unparalleled delivery of care through teamwork, collaboration, innovation, and persistence for excellence. Lenox Hill Hospital is a 450-bed, acute care facility on Manhattan's Upper East Side with a 12-bed CT ICU. Our cardiac surgical team performs surgeries including but not limited to all open cardiac procedures, transcatheter-based therapies and advanced heart failure management including ECMO. Our cardiac surgery program consistently receives the highest quality ratings from the NYS Department of Health and the Society for Thoracic Surgeons. Requirements
Active RN license required.
1–2+ years of ICU/critical care experience.
BLS and ACLS required. CCRN preferred.
Ability to stand for long shifts, lift up to 50 lbs, and assist with patient transfers.

Most ICU roles require 1–2 years of recent critical-care experience. Travel ICU contracts typically expect 2+ years. New grads can apply to ICU residency programs offered by many hospitals.
Which certifications are required?
BLS and ACLS are required. CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) is preferred and often comes with a pay differential.
What does the schedule look like?
Most ICU positions run three 12-hour shifts per week — either days (7a–7p) or nights (7p–7a) — with weekend and holiday rotations.
