About This Role
In this cardiovascular operating room nursing role at Ascension St. John Medical Center, you'll support complex heart and vascular surgeries as a registered nurse. Your primary schedule runs Monday through Friday, 6:30am to 3:00pm, though you'll be on call and may need to cover occasional nights, weekends, or holidays. Day-to-day work involves monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures, managing surgical instruments and equipment, and collaborating closely with surgeons and anesthesiologists. How you’ll make an impact in this role Lead the surgical environment by seamlessly transitioning between scrub and circulating roles, ensuring every complex cardiovascular procedure is executed with precision and safety. Advocate for patient safety through vigilant monitoring and real-time communication, managing the total nursing care journey for patients during their most vulnerable moments. Orchestrate the operative suite by expertly preparing specialized cardiovascular instrumentation and advanced technology, ensuring the team is equipped for success before the first incision. Collaborate as a critical partner to surgeons and anesthesia providers, proactively managing line access and intubation to maintain physiological stability throughout the case. What minimum requirements you’ll need Licensure / Certification / Registration: Required Credential(s): Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. One or more of the following: Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
